Boya BY M1 mic sold by a Chinese company and I am reviewing it after using more than 2 months.
This mic comes with 6 meters long wire, which is enough space to move about if you need the mic to be plugged into a DSLR, Laptop, smartphone some distance away. At this situation, you can take its advantages.
From its name Omnidirectional, we understand that it is cover 360 degrees. That means it picks up sounds from all the directions so it is a plus point for some cases like interviews but as well as it is a negative point when you will record a song.
You can take an interview by using it, placing on the table between the speakers because it picks up sounds equally from all the directions.

The box includes the BOYA BY-M1 microphone with a 6 meters long cable in a nice leather finish carry pouch which is really cool, a foam wind for reducing external unwanted noise, a clip, a 3.5 mm audio jack with a 6.5mm adapter and an LR44 button battery.
Along with these a user manual is provided which is in English. Also inside the pouch, I found a silica-gel packet.

Many people are facing problems when recording their video on smartphones using Boya mic. They think it is not working on their phones. So read the below guide and after reading this quick guide you can easily record your video on any phone.
Using with a smartphone
- No need to install the battery.
- Move the switch on the power pack to OFF/Smartphone.
- For video recording, you should use Open Camera app or any similar app. Your inbuilt camera app will not work with this mic.
- For audio recording, you don't need to use any third-party applications.
- So open your application and record your first video.
Using with a DSLR camera.
- Install the battery in the right polarities.
- Move the switch on the power pack to the camera on setting.
- Plug the 3.5mm connector into the audio input jack of your DSLR.
Using with a Laptop
- This mic can only use laptops, whose headphone jack and microphone Jack combined.
- No need to install the battery.
- Use with power OFF mode.
BOYA BY-M1 microphone Audio quality
As it is an omnidirectional mic. So it captures little noise from the background. The audio quality is not excellent but I think it is great at this price point.

It depends on you. If you are planning to buy the cheapest microphone that comes under 1000rs, so I strongly suggest you purchase it. Because a lot of other brands comes around 100Rs to 1000Rs and those are money-wasting mic. So invest in a good thing that is Boy BY M1.
